Stefan Ketter Has Been Named Head Of The Pernambuco Project

Stefan Ketter has been appointed to lead the Group’s Pernambuco Project, the creation of a state-of-the-art automotive industrial complex in Pernambuco, Brazil. Ketter retains his role as Chief Manufacturing Officer.

Getting On With The Job: $1.15 Billion Tunnelling Contract Awarded On North West Rail Link

Four huge tunnel boring machines will call Sydney’s North West home from next year after the NSW Government awarded a $1.15 billion contract to build the North West Rail Link’s 15km twin tunnels.

The Thiess John Holland Dragados joint venture has been awarded the contract, with work starting immediately to get the first tunnel boring machine (TBM) in the ground by the end of next year.

Senior Adviser to Chairman Passes Away

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is saddened to announce the death of Susan Kupferman, Senior Advisor to the Chairman, who passed away on June 26, 2013, following a long illness.

Tourists Satisfied With Services Provided During Confederations Cup 2013, Reveals Survey

The Brazil Tourism Ministry announced the preliminary results of a study conducted by the Institute of Economic Research (FIFE) on the quality of infrastructure and tourist services provided during the Confederations Cup. 

According to the survey, the satisfaction of Brazilian and foreign tourists is above 50% in more than half of the evaluated services.

1,500 New Citizens Discover Canada aboard VIA Rail trains

A collaboration between VIA Rail and the Institute for Canadian Citizenship (ICC) has resulted in 1,500 new citizens travelling by train to explore Canada, their new home, in the last year.

KiwiRail Working To Have Hutt Valley and Wairarapa Trains Back in Operation on Thursday Morning

KiwiRail is advising Hutt Valley Line and Wairarapa Line train commuters that it is planning to resume normal services on the Hutt Valley and Wairarapa lines tomorrow morning.

“Work is progressing well to restore the damaged track along Wellington’s foreshore.  All track is now in place and a tamper machine has been in operation through the night to level the track. Restoration of signalling and traction will need to take place before services can resume and this will be the focus for the KiwiRail teams today,” says KiwiRail’s Chief Executive Jim Quinn.

Statement Regarding Friday Night Systems Outage

Southwest Airlines' computer systems are fully functional and the operation of our flight schedule is back to normal after a systemwide computer outage late Friday night.

Overall, nearly 60 flights were canceled Friday night or Saturday morning due to the three-hour outage.  A total of approximately 250 flights scheduled to takeoff after 11pm EDT were impacted, mostly delayed.  Southwest Airlines currently operates more than 3,400 flights a day.

Oman Air flight WY 823, Muscat to Kuala Lumpur departing this morning, was diverted to Mumbai following receipt of a bomb threat, since shown to be a hoax.

The pilot was informed immediately and the aircraft diverted to Mumbai an landed at 2.19 this afternoon. All passengers and crew were disembarked safely before local security forces began investigating the incident.3
