Sea World's new cub joins Polar Bear Club

There’s more than just glitter on the Gold Coast these days. A 600 gram ball of white fur has burst onto the scene with the birth of Sea World’s first polar bear cub.

Experts from around the world have flown in to help local vets look after first-time mum, Liya, and the as yet unnamed addition to Polar Bear Shores – only the second polar bear cub to be born in captivity in Australia.

With mother and baby bunkered down in a blackened den since birth, the sex of Sea World’s new cub bub is still unknown. The duo will stay in the den for the next six to 10 weeks.
