The franchise will be operated by Gateway Foods, which also will begin operations of the newsstand at the station, replacing longtime newsstand operator Gary Waxman, who decided to retire.
The company offered the highest rent for both the 232-square-foot concession space and the 156-square foot newsstand. There were 21 proposals for the concession space and 12 for the newsstand in response to a recent request for proposals.
Gateway will pay $79,200 a year for the coffee concession and $63,360 for the newsstand with 35 annual rent increases during the 10-year term. The board of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority approved the lease Wednesday.
