Makroulakis: Images in Harmony exhibition attracts art lovers to Greece

Sensuality in painting is the dominant feature of Michael Makroulakis’ photorealist work. Michael Makroulakis is a painter who is deeply in the know of the secrets of miniature painting and a staunch supporter of visual aesthetic beauty, of the essence in things as well as of expressiveness; he is considered to be one of the few European painters of that kind.

For Makroulakis, beauty is defined by the indisputable concepts of perfection, harmony and clarity. A bunch of poppies painted by Makroulakis is “as if whatever is conceived by the sense of sight is then transformed into a tactile experience”, as Angelos Delivorias, Director of the Benaki Museum in Athens, points out.The clarity of his technique adds an indelible mark on the familiar work of a sensual visual world.
