Ambubachi Mela in Assam boosts Northeast India tourism industry

Even as Mother Nature wreaks havoc in North India striking a blow to its tourism industry, the tourism industry of Northeast India is taking leaps thanks to Ambubachi Mela at the Kamakhya Devi Temple in Guwahati, Assam which kicked off on June 22.

Ambubachi Mela is considered to be the largest spiritual congregation of the Northeast and according to the Kamakhya Debuttor Board, the number of visitors to the temple premises has already crossed three lakh and was expected to be around 3.5 lakh by the second night.
